A mention counts an article associated with a keyword. The word cloud shows the keywords with the strongest trend scores: the larger the word, the faster the topic is rising.
Trend score compares mentions with the preceding period, with smoothing to keep small numbers from dominating. Recent mentions count for more than older ones within the selected period. A frequently covered topic and a fast-growing one are not always the same thing.
The score also rewards breadth: a story picked up by many sources counts for more than the same number of articles from a single one.
These signals describe coverage within the tracked sources. They are a way to explore the conversation, not a measure of a claim’s accuracy or a topic’s importance.
More time, more context
Each digest starts with the five keywords with the strongest trend scores. Longer periods add more context to help separate a brief spike from a developing story.
- Daily
- A quick catch-up: a short summary, the five strongest trends and the stories behind them.
- Weekly
- A wider view: a fuller summary, daily mention patterns for the top five and a highlight beyond the leading topics.
- Monthly
- The bigger picture: deeper context, rising, peaking and fading topics, keywords to watch next, and the sources driving coverage.
Digests cover complete periods and appear only after those periods end. An issue is dated the day it comes out: the daily issue of October 29 holds the news of October 28.
