The post Gravity Bridge drained of $5.4M in latest cross-chain exploit appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com.
An attacker has drained approximately $5.4 million from Gravity Bridge, the cross-chain bridge connecting Ethereum and the Cosmos ecosystem, in what on-chain analysts suspect was a contract key compromise. The theft, which was flagged on May 30 by blockchain security firms PeckShieldAlert and Cyvers, continues a punishing stretch for cross-chain infrastructure. Bridges have repeatedly proven to be the most lucrative targets in DeFi, and Gravity Bridge is the latest to fall. It appears the @gravity_bridge bridge contract key may have been compromised, resulting in the theft of $5.4M. A court-ordered restraining order pushed Circle to blacklist Zama's cUSDC wrapper on Ethereum. The privacy protocol is not a defendant but every depositor in the pooled contract is locked out alongside the targeted funds.
Circle blacklisted a publicly labeled Ethereum smart contract tied to Zama’s privacy protocol on Saturday, freezing approximately $12.6 million in USDC following a U.S. federal court order connected to a civil lawsuit against Overnight Finance founder Maxim Ermilov. Circle’s Zama Blacklist Freezes $12.6M, Raising Questions About USDC Use in DeFi Contracts The frozen address, 0xe978F22157048E5DB8E5d07971376e86671672B2, […]
In a market where most institutions focus on crypto, Bit Digital appears to have taken a more forward-looking approach by recognizing Ethereum’s strategic importance early on. While many players were still treating ETH as a secondary asset, Bit Digital began positioning itself around ETH’s long-term potential as the backbone of decentralized finance, staking, and tokenized […]

The post Ethereum’s ‘deeper problem’ – It’s not just macro risk weighing ETH down appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com.
On Thursday, Ethereum’s price briefly dropped below $2000 for the first time since late March. In doing so, the king altcoin effectively erased all its Q2 gains. At the time of writing, it was down 19% from its April peak of nearly $2.5K. This week alone, the altcoin has shed 6% of its value. Should it lose the Q2 support zone of $2K, short sellers could push it lower to $1.8K—the range low of the 2026 sideways structure. The pullback mirrored a broader macro-driven correction that also dragged Bitcoin lower. However, according to Nansen, ETH’s weakness showed a “deeper problem.” Source: ETH/USDT, TradingView Negative ETH catalysts: ETF outflows, low network activity In an email statement, Nansen Research analyst Nicolai Sondergaard told AMBCrypto, Gas fees are sitting below 2 gwei, near cycle lows, which signals that network demand is soft. The post Circle Freezes $12.6 Million in Confidential USDC, Exposing Surveillance Risks appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com.
Circle blacklisted Zama’s confidential USDC contract on Ethereum on May 30. The blacklist freezes roughly $12.6 million held in a cUSDC token contract. The freeze prevents holders of confidential USDC (cUSDC) from redeeming the tokens for standard USDC. The action raises fresh questions about issuer control over privacy-focused Decentralized Finance (DeFi) protocols. Circle Blacklist Halts cUSDC Redemptions Circle, the issuer of USDC, maintains a built-in blacklist on the USDC smart contract. Authorized Circle accounts add addresses, and blacklisted addresses cannot send or receive the stablecoin. The frozen contract is an ERC-1967 proxy that holds USDC on behalf of cUSDC token holders. Zama’s privacy protocol uses fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) to conceal balances and transfer amounts on public chains. Circle blacklisted the Zama (privacy protocol) Confident
